Sponsorship Programme ~ Sponsoring a child will take you to another WORLD, The WORLD of Your Child
The sponsorship programme started in 2000-01 out of a felt need for a long term support for children in IPER. This programme is providing sustenance to many children who are deprived of any support from their families. A day care centre is run for these children. Presently more than 100 children have been sponsored. Majority of them are sponsored by people from Finland while a number of then are from England and USA. Indian people too are now a days coming forward to sponsor children for their education and nutrition.
A few of these children have completed their school education and are pursuing higher secondary and university education. Many of these children are showing proficiency and are excelling in their performance. Many of them are pursuing special skill classes like computer, music, handicrafts, arts and so on. Special sponsoring has been done for students especially girls who pass out School and pursues their career in higher education.
The sponsorship fund covers the entire cost of the child’s education, medical care including first aid and basic treatment of the child when sick and provides for the mid-meal for six days a week. Special nutritional diet is given for those who are sick or malnourished.
Most of the children who go to formal schools have a regular schedule of special coaching to support their school performance, co-curricular activities, computer literacy and cultural activities. All sponsored children get the necessary educational materials such as school fees, uniforms, shoes, school bags, stationary and books. Sponsorship has made available to these children a good present and a happy and secured future.

The sponsorship programme is run from the Institute’s own premise at Prince Anwar Shah Road, Kolkata. Here we run a day care centre, a children’s clinic and a kitchen. We also have a vocational unit.
All the sponsored children come to the centre and spend the day in learning, playing and creative works. They are provided with nutritional, educational and health care support
About 200 children come in this centre regularly to join different projects.
Nearly 250 children are mainstreamed every year in regular formal schools.
The Institute also has a college of Research and Training affiliated to an Indian University
The children hail from a very low economic family background. They live in shanties and slums.
They attend the centres run by IPER and regular contacts are maintained with them by the social workers of the Institute. They have access to plenty of safe water for drinking, cleaning and washing at the Institute.
